If you are preparing to put a home on the market, you need to know what design trends are going to be dominant over the next few months and into 2015. People who are looking to purchase new spaces won't want to invest in a space that they see as outdated, but will instead look for something that is in-demand and will be able to meet all of their needs.
While speaking with RealtorMag, real estate and design professionals Mollie Carmichael and Nick Lehnert offered their thoughts on home trends that will be massively popular soon.
Here are some of the design ideas they offered:
- Home offices: It is very common these days for people to work from home at least a few times each week. In order to maintain the level of productivity they would have at work, those people need a space separate from the rest of the house to concentrate. Home offices are a wonderful way to balance work and home life for a new generation of employees.
- Multigenerational spaces: There is an increase in multiple generations of a family living under one roof, so many homeowners are opting to create separate living spaces. Grandparents and parents can have their own entrances, bathrooms and kitchenettes, creating a kind of private suite.
- Open kitchens: Increasingly, kitchens are becoming the focal point of any home, as they are used these days for much more than cooking. They are the spots where families gather to spend time together, have meals and do daily tasks like homework or paying the bills. Having an open layout will soon be essential for a majority of households.
