As the weather grows colder you are probably looking to save some of the money you spend on power around your home. Focusing on the energy efficiency of the plumbing system is a great place to start!
The first thing you will want to do is take a look at the home's water heater. In order for it to be as efficient as possible, while still providing hot water for your showers and appliances, it should be kept at 120 degrees. This will keep you comfortable and help to save money.
You should also be aware of what temperature you keep the thermostat set. In order for you and your pipes to remain warm, it should be kept around 65 degrees. When you are out of the house, lowering it to 60 degrees is okay too. As long as the pipes don't freeze over, you will be good to go!
