Hey everybody, and welcome back to another video from John C. Flood! This week, we'll be taking a look at maintaining your home's hot water heater.
Something that you will need to take care of at least once every few months - ideally when the seasons change - is emptying the tank of all the build-up sediment. If you don't clear the gunk from inside, you will risk causing damage to the machine in the long run. Simply use a garden hose to wash away the contents before filling it with fresh water.
To keep the machine running as smoothly as possible, you should also be aware of the temperature the water is set at. For optimal performance, water should be no warmer than 120 degrees, so be sure to check the thermostat to see if it is set in that range.
